The 26th D. Sivappa Memorial Gold Cup Football Tournament was recently inaugurated at GMP School Grounds, Sunticoppa, organized by Blue Boys Youth Association. It was launched in memory of D. Sivappa by his son Vinod Sivappa, a Bettageri plantation owner.
During the inaugural match, host team Blue Boys Yuvaka Sangh defeated Panya FC 5-3 in a tiebreaker after a 2-2 draw. In the second match, Amity FC, Gaddehalla beat Bettageri FC 5-4 in another tiebreaker. Both matches were praised for exciting game play.
