A book on athletes of Kodagu released

The book ‘Kodagina Kreedapatugala Jeevana Charithre’ was released recently by the High Court Judge Justice Cheppudira M Poonacha.The rare compilation, features comprehensive details of over 86 athletes.

The book was distributed the book to 613 schools and 67 pre-university colleges by the book’s publisher and president of the ‘Kodava MakkadaKoota’, Bollajira B Ayyappa. He also said that the book would be distributed to 102 gram panchayats, five taluk panchayats, and the zilla panchayat.

Justice Cheppudira M Poonacha lauded the efforts of the author CheppudiraKariappa, and the publisher. He suggested launching a digital version of the book to attract young people.

Speaking on the occasion Baleyada Kalappa who is fondly called ‘Iron Kalappa’, recalled a pivotal moment of his life when he lost the chance to represent the national team after a vaccination-related incident, that resulted in him losing his leg. Kalappa shared how he overcame the odds to become the Channel Head at Blue dart and DHL.

Lt Col Baleyada Subramani addressed the gathering. Senior athlete Paikera E Kalayya, a member of the 1975 World Cup winning hockey team, was present at the event.
