Kodagu bandh call receives good response

The six-hour Kodagu bandh which was called by various organisations and federation demanding the deportation of the person who insulted the brave soldiers Field Marshal K M Cariappa and General K S Thimayya on social media received a good response.

In Madikeri, Kushalanagar, Suntikoppa, Somwarpet, Napoklu, Virajpet, Ponnampet and Gonikoppa   all business establishments remained closed from 6am to 12 noon. Vehicular movement were normal in some places and private buses also supported the bandh so plying of private buses were completely stopped. 50% of the auto rickshaws plied. Government offices functioned normal and the number of students attended schools and colleges are also very less.

In district headquarters Madikeri, most of the shop were closed, except milk, fruit and medicine shops.

Under the leadership of Rajeev Bopaiah, a road blockade protest was held for some time at General K S Thimayya Circle in Madikeri.

Speaking on the occasion, Rajeev Bopaiah, condemned who insulted proud brave soldiers of Kodagu, F.M.K.M. Cariappa and General K.S. Thimayya and insisted that those who were responsible for this should be exiled and subjected to strict legal action. He warned the district administration and the government that if there is no adequate action taken on this, they will take long march from Kutta to Madikeri.

Later, the office bearers of the union and the leaders of various social and association organizations, who went to the district administration building through a procession, appealed to the Additional District Collector Aishwarya and demanded appropriate action.

President of Madikeri Kodava Samaj M P. Muthappa, ex-soldier paratrooper Bottangada Jappu, Thammu Poovaiah of KER, Robin Devaiah, President of Hotel Owners Association Dinesh Cariappa, Suleiman, Nazir, Sarath, Jagdish Rai, Kuppanda Vasant and many others participated in the protest.
