Your calm mind is the ultimate weapon against your challenges. So relax. To be calm is the highest achievement of the self.
Everything we do is infused with the energy with which we do it. If we’re frantic, life will be frantic. If we’re peaceful and calm, life will be peaceful and calm. Self-control is strength. Calmness is mastery. You must strive to get to the point where your mood doesn’t shift based on the insignificant actions of someone else. Do not allow others to control the direction of your life. Do not allow your emotions to empower your intelligence. Never be in a hurry.
Do everything quietly and in a calm spirit. Do not lose your inner peace for anything whatsoever, even if your whole world seems upset. Remember to slow down. Breathe. Don’t rush. Let yourself feel everything inside – joy, pain, heartache, exhaustion – feel everything. Remember to listen to your inner voice. Take time to nourish what your soul needs the most.
Take ten minutes, thirty minutes, an hour, a day. Take a break to slow down. And remember that peace does not mean to be in a place where there is no noise, trouble, or hard work. It means to be in the midst of those things and still be calm in your heart and soul.
Peace is accepting today, releasing yesterday, and giving up the need to control tomorrow. In the celebrated words of Lao Tzu: “Watch your thoughts, they become your words; watch your words, they become your actions; watch your actions, they become your habits; watch your habits, they become your character; and watch your character, it becomes your destiny.”
