BJP Kisan Morcha District General Secretary Sharath Chandra addressing the media persons recently alleged that it had come to light that the property of Sri Vanadurga Temple in Ranger Block had been transferred to the Waqf Board.

He said the BJP would stage a severe protest if the revenue department did not register the property in the temple’s name. He futher said that 11 acres of land was recorded under the Waqf Board in the Ranger Block survey numbers 46, 47, 48 and 49 and added that only five-and-a-half acres of donated land belongs to the Waqf Board, while the remaining land belongs to Sri Vanadurga Temple. He accused the Congress government led by Chief Minister (CM) Siddaramaiah of engaging in ‘land jihad’ through Waqf Minister Zameer Ahmed Khan.

Sri Vanadurga Temple Committee Member K S Prakash demanded an investigation.

BJP Mandal spokesperson Kanthi Kariappa said properties belonging to 16 families in Kodagu had been included under the Waqf Board. He charged that the Congress was provoking Hindus and was using the Waqfland issue to save the CM in the MUDA scam.
