Virajpet Citizens’ Committee member E Ra Durga Prasad in a recent press release welcomed the administration’s move to initiate a survey to clear encroachments on the rajakaluve in Virajpet.

He demanded that the process be carried out impartially, without yielding to any sort of pressure. He said that Virajpet, which was a town panchayat, has been upgraded as a Town Municipal Council (TMC) by including some neighbouring villages and added that the process of delimitation is still not complete. As a result, these areas exist in both old and new records, leading to several problems, he complained.

He urged the authorities to undertake the process of legally removing the areas from the villages’ records. and bringing them under the Virajpet’s jurisdiction. In this regard, he has also written to the chief officer of Virajpet TMC, the press release stated.
