Chief Minister’s legal advisor and MLA of Virajpet A.S. Ponnanna speaking after inaugurating the Kodagu district level primary and high school boys’ and girls’ sports meet recently at Hudikeri Janata High School in association with the Kodagu district administration, school education department, field education officer of Virajpet and Ponnampet taluk said that 25 lakhs each will be given for upgrading the school playground of 8 hobli centres of Virajpet Assembly Constituency.
He said that Kodagu district has earned its own name in the field of sports, and in order to give more emphasis to the field of sports, it has been proposed to develop 8 hobli school playgrounds of Virajpet Assembly Constituency. In this regard, work has already been done in Virajpet and Hudikeri. The remaining 6 playground works will be completed soon. AS Ponnanna informed. Speaking further he said that Kodagu district has made a remarkable name in the field of hockey, cricket and athletics. In this regard, efforts have been made to provide more infrastructure for the sports sector.
S. Ponnanna opined that Students will be able to accept life’s wins and losses equally by engaging in sports along with studies in that way, it will be helpful to become a good citizen in the future.
Success in life can be achieved only when wins and losses are accepted equally. In that regard, sports will help in physical and mental development, he said.
On this occasion, Ponnanna said that the students who have studied in Hudikeri Government School have made a good name in various fields including politics and sports at the state and national level.
District Physical Education Officer B.R.Gayatri said that it is possible to achieve success in various fields when students are involved in extracurricular activities along with curricular.
M.A.Ashok, Chairman of Hudikeri Janata High School said that playgrounds are beneficial for children’s active activities. He said that a playground has been developed in Hudikeri for that purpose.
MLA Ponnanna introduced the students participating in the sports event. After hoisting the sports flag, MLA Ponnanna lit the sports torch. A nice parade was done by the athletes who gave guard of honour to the MLA. Students and general public were present on the occasion at Janata High School, Hudikeri .
