‘Alaska’… A book written by famous Kodava Couple released

A travelogue written by a couple, Bacharaniyanda Appanna and his wife Ranu Appannawas recently released in a programme which was organised by Codava Makkada Coota at Pathrika Bhavan in Madikeri

The couple in their book ‘Alaska,’   narrated their travel experiences to US, Canada and 14 other European countries.

Speaking on the occasion Appanna informed that in the year 2015, they studied the Alaskan region in the USA with its unique topography and unique culture of indigenous people and informed a sad story that Jammada Somayya, their son-in law who had taken them to the USA, had passed away while the couple were writing this book.

Due to this pain, Appanna said that even we stopped writing on it. Now, after gap of 9 long years, our writings have come out in the form of a book,” he added.

Speaking on the occasion Ranu thanked the Codava Makkada Coota for helping to bringing out the writings in the form of a book which was very challenging one. She also thanked Codava Makkada Coota for encouraging other writers in one or the other way to publish their writings which is very commendable job, she said.

Mukkatira Somanna, IAP Pvt Limited CEO lauded Codava Makkada Coota for publishing the books and there by supporting the writers.

Bollajira B Ayyappa, President of Codava Makkada Coota informed that articles have been invited for its 100th book and added that it hasbeen decided to bring out a book with writings on Kodava culture, tradition and history.

Ayyappa also said that those interested writers can send their article for the 100th book to Putharira Karun Kalaiah’s Whats App number 8762515659 before 30th of June 2024.
