K P Ranjith triumphs

53rd edition of the Mercara Downs Open Golf Championship was recently held at the Mercara Downs Golf Club (MDGC). 

Around 70 golfers participated in this premier event of MDGC held over two days. Players had to compete in the scorching hot conditions.

 K P Ranjith held his nerve and won the coveted Barrister Muthanna Memorial Cup of open stroke play event played over 36 holes with a gross score of 154. M G Chengappa was declared runner up with a gross score of 157.

Best Gross day 1 : Ranjith K.P    76Gross

Best Nett day 1 : Naveen K.K. 70 Nett

Open Stroke Play Over 36 Holes 

(Barrister Muthanna Memorial Cup) Winner : Ranjith K.P 154Gross

Runner Up : M.G. Chengappa 157 Gross

Handicap Stroke Play (0-18) over 36 holes (M.N.Chittiappa Cup) Winner  : Daiwik 145Nett

Runner Up : P.E.Kalaiah 146Nett

Handicap Stableford (0-18) over 18 holes (Manavattira Accavva Cup) Winner : Guruduth C.S. 33Points

Runner Up: Ponnappa K.A 33Points

Handicap Stableford  (19-24) over 18 holes Winner : 

  1. S. Dhananjaya 37Points

Runner Up : Ramesh Bopaiah 31Points

The prize distribution ceremony was held at the club house of MDGC. Captain of the club I K Anil, Hon Secretary of the club Harish Appanna and Tournament Committee Chairman K P Ranjith were on the dais. I K Anil welcomed the gathering. K P Ranjith announced the names of the winners. 

I K Anil, Harish Appanna, M A Ramesh and Nagarjun Sakhamuri gave away the prizes.
