An elephant separated from the herd of wild elephants has caused concern among the people by roaming in the middle of the road in the foggy weather in the early morning in Ponnampet recently.
Wild elephant entered the town through a paddy field in foggy weather around 7 am and appeared near the Ponnampet court, marched down the road in a rage. Traders who had just opened their shops, motorists coming on the road and locals were alarmed, some of them ran away from the spot.
The elephant walked on the road as it liked and went towards the back garden of the Muthappa temple via Kunda road. Later, it moved to the Field of Fire Disease Testing Centre and created panic by rampaging from Ponnampet-Kutta main road to the yard of some people’s houses.
The public captured wild elephant walking on the main road on their mobile phones and now these scenes have now gone viral on social media. B.M.Shankar, A.C.F. Gopal, DRFO Ganesh, Ravi Kiran, Rakshit, Elephant Task Force of Thitimati Division and RRT personnel followed elephant.
It has come to know that elephant has sneaked into the forest of Kuttichata Deva in Kiruguru village. The forest department has decided to chase it back to the forest.
