Motorcycle scooter collision…1 person dead

A 24-year-old youth identified as Dhanal Subbaiah (24), died after his bike collided with a scooter,near Chain Gate in Madikeri. Subsequently HD Thammaiah (57) the scooter driver hung himself. Dhanal was a student of Field Marshal Cariappa College and was a resident of Kandanakolli, Haleri. It is reported that he was traveling on a motorbike from Madikeri to Kandanakolli when is bike collided with Thammaiah’s scooter which came in the opposite direction. Dhanal was thrown to the road, resulting in a severe head injury, while Thammaiah also suffered minor injuries. Even though Dhanal was admitted to a hospital in Mysuru, doctors declared him brain dead. He was shifted to the district government hospital in Madikeri. After knowing that the youth would not survive, Thammaiah hung himself at his residence. As per the police, Dhanal too breathed his last on Sunday. The accident case was filed at Madikeri Traffic Police Station, while the suicide case was filed at Madikeri Rural Police Station.
