MLA A. S. Ponnanna, Chief Minister’s Legal Advisor and representative of the Virajpet constituency, reviewed the progress of development at Balugod in Virajpet taluk. The project is being implemented at a cost of Rs. 6 crore.
He expressed satisfaction with the progress and emphasized the importance of proper utilization of the government grant, which was released through the State Backward Classes Department following a request from the Balugod Kodava community.
The development includes construction of a sports ground, audience gallery, barrier wall, and buildings. MLA Ponnanna stated that the quality of work has been satisfactory and expressed hope that the project will be completed soon. He also mentioned plans to invite Chief Minister Siddaramaiah for the inauguration.

He noted that the Balugod hockey ground is of exceptional quality and will contribute significantly to the future of athletes in Kodagu.
Kodava Samaj President Vishnu Kariappa stated that the state government has provided a total grant of Rs. 10 crore at the request of MLA Ponnanna. Of this, Rs. 6 crore is allocated to Balugod Kodava Samaj, Rs. 3 crore has been distributed to 30 Kodava Samajs at Rs. 10 lakh each, and Rs. 1 crore has been reserved for the development of Bhagamandala Kodava Samaj.
The Kodava Hockey Namme will be held at the Balugod ground from November 6 to 9. The Chief Minister will be invited to attend the closing ceremony and inaugurate the completed development works.
Prominent members of the Kodava Samaj including Ajjikuttira Girish, Manu, Somanna, and Kundachira Manju Devaiah were present.
