Madikeri is an incredible destination, known for its winding roads, lined with beautiful coffee plantations. The pleasant atmosphere makes it an enjoyable place to visit as it is one of the Karnataka’s most popular hill stations, often referred to as the Scotland of India for its stunning landscapes. Known for its lush greenery, the pleasant climate and picturesque surroundings make it an attractive location as it offers a quieter lifestyle.
Madikeri, recognised as one of the world’s Eighth ” Hottest Hotspots” of biological diversity and also one of UNESCO world Heritage sites. The city is ranked first in India for having cleanest air and best AQI in 2024. We are definitely proud of the fact that cities with clean air can have more green spaces, which can improve the mental well- being of the residents. They can also be more attractive to tourists, which can boost the local economy.
The name ” Madikeri” means clean town. Now a days it takes a lot of hard work to keep that name relevant. Reeling under a garbage problem, tourism has made the city and the surrounding areas with view points, a terrible mess of plastic. The picturesque hill town which is surrounded by hills and mountains, known for its abundant coffee estates and dense forests, offers scenic views and a tranquil environment. People from all parts throng in to view its beauty and as the crowd increases the waste disposition is also increasing and cleanliness is lost. Heavy fines should be imposed on those found littering.
If we don’t take the initiative to clean our land and shame those who litter, who else will take the action? It is the responsibility of each one of us to keep our surroundings and the environment clean. Let us move towards cleanliness and clean our city. As a responsible citizen, let us join hands together and make this land more beautiful and cleaner.
