Police Martyrs’ Day observed

Policemen who were martyred during maintaining peace, law and order and property protection in the country were paid a heartfelt tribute recently in the Police Martyrs’ Day program at the district police parade ground, Madikeri.

Kodagu Deputy Commissioner (DC) Venkat Raja, District Superintendent of Police (SP) K. Ramarajan, ZP CEO Anand Prakash Meena, Kodagu Circle Chief Conservator of Forests Manoj Kumar Tripathi, Additional Superintendent of Police K S Sundarraj, Assistant Commissioner Vinayak Narwade, Mohan Kumar on behalf of DySPs, Armed Reserve Inspector of Police Chennanayake, Inspector of Police Wireless Division Anand, Air Marshal (Retd) K C Cariappa on behalf of ex-servicemen, B M Kushalappa on behalf of retired DySPs, I P Medappa on behalf of Inspector of Police, Band Master Siddesh, Deputy Conservator of Forests. Bhaskar, Niranjan on behalf of Lawyers Association, Muthappa on behalf of Kodava Samajas, Surtale Somanna on behalf of Gowda Samajas, Subramani on behalf of Rotaries, Ambekallu Naveen on behalf of Lions, Suday Nanaiah and many others paid floral tributes at the Martyr Police Memorial.

Kodagu District Superintendent of Police K. Ramarajan read out the names of   216 martyred police officers and constables throughout the country, who lost their lives while performing their duty in 2023-24   including five from Karnataka state. Police parade personnel fired three rounds of firing. On this occasion, everyone, including the dignitaries, stood up and paid two minutes of silence to martyred policemen.  Team Siddesh of DAR played the national anthem.

Speaking on the occasion, DC Venkat Raja said that duty loyalty of the police should always be remembered. The role of police is important in protecting the society and added that the messages given to the society by the police should not be forgotten. DC also said that the loyalty and selfless service of the policemen who sacrifice their lives for the overall safety and security of the society should be remembered.  Head Constable M.E. Farooq narrated the program and M S Lokesh proposed the vote of thanks.
