Dinesh Gundu Rao, Health and Family Welfare Minister, speaking after inaugurating the dialysis centre at Community Health Centre in Kushalnagar which was undertaken on behalf of Kodagu District Administration, Zilla Panchayat, District Health and Family Welfare Department and National Health Mission said that a total of Rs 5 crore is being given for the development of the hospitals in Kodagu. In that 1.75 crores each to Kushalanagar Community Health Hospital and Somwarpet Taluk Hospital and Rs 2 crore to Virajpet Taluk Hospital.
Speaking further he said that 219 dialysis centers have been started in the state and around 800 machines have been installed and added that even in the new taluk centers, new experiments are being made in the health sector to provide the best health services to the public easily.
Minister also informed that three dialysis machines have been installed in Kushalnagar, and there is provision to install one more. Efforts will be made to upgrade Kushalanagar taluk hospital in the current budget, he added. There is a shortage of doctors and staff in all the hospitals of the state and steps will be taken to recruit doctors and staff on contract basis, he said.
All types of health facilities should be provided in government hospitals. In this regard, efforts are being made to ensure that 100% medicines are available in the hospital itself and this will be completed in next three to four months, Dinesh Gundurao said
Dinesh Gundurao further said that with the available doctors and staff they must do their duty promptly and also advised on the occasion that it is very important to treat the patients well and provide good medical care for all since government spending lot of money on health sector.
Speaking on the occasion Dr. Mantar Gowda, MLA of Madikeri assembly constituency said that long demand of many years has been fulfilled by starting a dialysis unit at the Kushalanagar Community Health Centre and added that it will help many dialysis patients in nearby areas.
Due to high blood pressure and diabetes, many diseases will occur. Hence dialysis is essential to prevent diseases. In this regard, the MLA requested that the dialysis unit should be started at the primary health centre level to provide health care services to all.
MLA further said that there is a shortage of doctors in Kodagu hospitals so he requested the minister that since Kodagu is a hilly area, higher wages should be given to doctors who work here. He also made a request to upgrade Hebbale and Sunticoppa Community Health Centres.
Speaking on the occasion Kodagu Deputy Commissioner (DC) Dr Venkat Raja said that in Kodagu district, specialised Doctors should come forward and show interest to help the patients of Kodagu so that many patients will not have a problem of visiting Mysore, Mangalore and Bangalore.
On the occasion Government Guarantee Schemes District Implementation Committee President Dharmaja Uthappa, K.P. Chandrakala, Chandramouli, Manjunath, KDP Assembly Member Sunita, Tahsildar Kiran Gouraiah, Divisional Joint Director of Health and Family Welfare Department Dr. Prasad, District Health and Family Welfare Officer Dr. Sathish Kumar, Taluk Medical Officer and others were present.
