Prof. Dr. M.P. Krishna of the Department of Zoology, who retired after rendering 31 years of distinguished service at the prestigious Field Marshal K.M. Cariappa College in Madikeri, was accorded a warm farewell by the college on Thursday. Presiding over the farewell function held at the college auditorium, Principal Prof. Major Raghava B. said it was a matter of great pride that Prof. Krishna, who had graduated from the same institution in his hometown, was retiring as a professor from the very college where he had begun his academic journey.
He described it as a rare honour and a privilege achieved through dedication and commitment to the institution.
The Principal lauded Prof. Krishna for his active involvement in every major programme of the college and for his significant contribution towards instilling discipline among students. He observed that Prof. Krishna’s spirit of service, commitment to academics and cordial association with colleagues would always be remembered. Wishing him a happy and prosperous retired life, he expressed hope that the years ahead would be filled with good health and happiness.
Delivering the introductory address, Prof. Sridhar R. Hegde of the Department of Hindi welcomed the gathering and highlighted the academic career and contributions of Prof. Krishna.
The invocation was offered by Prof. Gayatri Devi A. of the Department of Commerce.
Head of the Department of English Prof. Nayana K., Head of the Department of Economics Prof. Thippeswamy E., Prof. Gayatri Devi of the Department of Commerce, Head of the Department of Physics Prof. Nagaraj K.P., Associate Professor of English Ramesh H.R., and faculty members Dr. Nalini and Mukesh shared their experiences of working with Prof. Krishna and paid rich tributes to his dedicated service spanning more than three decades. Responding to the felicitations, Prof. Dr. M.P. Krishna reflected on his long academic career and shared his experiences and memories of serving the institution. He expressed gratitude to the management, faculty members, non-teaching staff and students for their affection, cooperation and support throughout his tenure.
As part of the programme, the college felicitated Prof. Krishna in recognition of his valuable contribution to the institution.
Members of the teaching and non-teaching staff of the college, along with officials and staff of Kodagu University, were present on the occasion.
