Mohan Kumar assumed office as the President of the Madikeri Lions Club for the year 2026-27, while K. Madhukar took charge as Secretary and Ambekal Naveen as Treasurer. The newly elected office-bearers were formally inducted during the oath-taking ceremony held at Kaveri Hall in the city.
Lions Deputy Governor and educationist Hariprasad Rai administered the oath of office to the new team.
Speaking after handing over charge to the new Board of Directors, Hariprasad Rai said that the Madikeri Lions Club has completed 61 years of dedicated service and has earned a distinguished reputation through thousands of social service initiatives. He observed that the organisation’s achievements have been made possible through its strong principles, the guidance of senior members, its commitment to social and educational causes, and the human values upheld by its members.
He called upon the new Board of Directors to further strengthen the organisation’s service activities and continue winning the confidence and affection of the public through meaningful community service.
Highlighting the global reach of Lions Clubs International, he said the organisation has undertaken initiatives in economically weaker countries to improve the health, education and social well-being of people. He added that every member should recognise it as a privilege to serve through such a noble organisation.
Addressing the gathering after assuming office, newly elected President L. Mohan Kumar said the organisation would be further strengthened by carrying every member along and working collectively. He assured that sincere efforts would be made to fulfil the mission and objectives established by the organisation’s senior members through human values and dedicated social service. He expressed confidence that, with the cooperation of all members, the club would continue to undertake meaningful service activities for the betterment of society.
Outgoing President Madan Madaiah said he was satisfied with having successfully carried out dozens of service activities during his tenure. He noted that becoming a member of the Lions Club had given him the opportunity to serve society and said the achievements of the past year were possible only because of the wholehearted support of all office-bearers and members. He assured the new Board of Directors of his complete cooperation.
Chief Guest and Lions Association Provincial President Dr. Pancham Thimmaiah said the newly elected Board comprised experienced, influential and socially committed individuals capable of undertaking even greater service initiatives. With the guidance of senior members and the collective strength of the organisation, he said, no goal was beyond reach. He urged members to continue extending a helping hand to those in need through the Lions movement.
Students Honoured for Academic Excellence.
During the programme, students who had excelled academically were felicitated as part of the club’s educational encouragement initiative. Lincy Dechamma, who secured the first rank in the district in the SSLC examination, and Sinchana Prasanna, who secured the first rank in the district in the PUC examination, were honoured with shawls by the dignitaries.
The dignitaries congratulated the students on their outstanding achievements and encouraged them to pursue higher academic excellence while contributing meaningfully to society. On the occasion, Lions Deputy Governor Hariprasad Rai was also felicitated by the Madikeri Lions Club in recognition of his contributions.
Lions Club leaders Nataraj Kestur, M.A. Nirajan, K.K. Damodar, G. Chidvilas, Geetha Bharathiraj, Sathyabhama, Vadiraj, C.K. Selvaraj, Harish Kothari, Ravi Poojary and several other members were present.
