The Akhila Kodava Samaja (AKS) has resolved to purchase the land situated at the foothills of the sacred hill adjoining the revered Malma Kshetra, the abode of Lord Igguthappa, with the objective of preserving the sanctity of the holy site.
The decision was taken at a special meeting convened by the AKS following the controversy surrounding the sale of the land located near the temple.
According to the Society, the purchaser of the land personally met its office-bearers and informed them that he was willing to sell the property to a registered organisation. In light of this development, the Society convened a special meeting to deliberate on the issue and arrive at an appropriate course of action.
The meeting was attended by representatives of Nelaji, Perur and Ballamavati villages, along with members of several Kodava organisations, including the United Kodava Organisation, Jabhoomi Charitable Trust, Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha (Kodagu Unit), the Bengaluru Kodava Society, Kodagu Kodava Society, coordinators of the Kodava-speaking community and several eminent members of the community.
Following detailed discussions, the meeting unanimously adopted the following resolutions:
- The land adjoining the sacred shrine of Lord Igguthappa should be purchased in the name of the Akhila Kodava Samaja to safeguard and preserve the sanctity of the holy site.
- The funds required for the purchase of the land should be raised through voluntary contributions from devotees of Lord Iggutappa.
- All Kodava organisations and community bodies should extend their full cooperation towards achieving this objective.
