Aida Thimmaiah (Ballachanda) delivered an outstanding performance to emerge as the Overall Champion at the IGU Maharashtra Ladies & Junior Girls Golf Championship held at the Willingdon Sports Club, Mumbai during 18 May, 2026 – 21 May, 2026.

Competing on a par-65 course, the 12-year-old returned impressive rounds of -1, +1 and +3 to finish the tournament at an overall score of +3 (198). Her dominant performance earned her three major titles at the championship.

Aida secured the Winner’s title in Category B by an emphatic margin of eight shots, while also claiming the Combined Category A & B title and the Overall Ladies, A & B Championship crown.

With this achievement, Aida has become one of the youngest players ever to win an Overall IGU Championship, competing against and overcoming older and more experienced golfers.

The victory also marks another major milestone in her budding career, as it officially opens her account in the World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) system at just 12 years of age.

Aida’s campaign was highlighted by the tournament’s only under-par round in the early stages, followed by a composed and determined display across all three days of competition.

Family members and supporters expressed gratitude to her coaches, academy, support staff, friends and well-wishers who have encouraged her throughout her golfing journey.
