A vast area of forest at Arangalbetta near Moovathoklu was destroyed by a wild fire recently. The fire was noticed at around 8 pm on Saturday and MLA Dr. Mantar Gowda along with the forest department staff, personnel from the fire and emergency service, rushed to the spot at around 10 pm. However, the fire tenders could not move to the spot.

They reached the spot after trekking for 1 km at midnight. But they could not contain the fire during the night. On Sunday, the officials and plantation owners carried out an operation and brought the fire under control. Officials suspect that miscreants might have set the fire.
