Motorists can avail themselves of a 50 per cent concession on fines imposed in traffic violation cases registered by the Transport Department and through e-challans issued by the Police Department, Senior Civil Judge and Member Secretary of the Kodagu District Legal Services Authority, Shubha, said.

She was speaking after launching a special campaign aimed at facilitating the settlement of pending traffic violation cases and extending a 50 per cent concession on outstanding fines.

The Karnataka Government has announced the concession to enable motorists to clear pending fines registered by the Transport Department and the Traffic Police Department at reduced rates. The benefit will be available from June 21 to July 10.  Shubha said the initiative has been introduced to facilitate the disposal of long-pending cases and reduce the financial burden on motorists. She urged vehicle owners to make use of the opportunity without hesitation.

Motor Vehicle Inspector Mohan Kumar stated that cases registered under the Motor Vehicles Act for violations such as driving without a licence, insurance, emission certificate and other mandatory documents can be settled under the scheme. He noted that the concession applies to cases registered by the Transport Department between 1991 and 2022.

He further informed that all pending traffic e-challan fines issued by the Police Department before May 2026 would also be eligible for the 50 per cent concession.

Transport Department Superintendent Mohan, Salima, Principal Legal Aid Counsel Maimuna, advocates and departmental staff were present on the occasion.

Administrative Assistant Jayappa welcomed the gathering and conducted the proceedings.
