MLA Dr. Mantar Gowda performed the bhoomi puja for various development works being undertaken under the Chief Minister’s Infrastructure Development and State Disaster Management Fund schemes on Friday.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Mantar Gowda said that road development, retaining wall construction, drainage and other infrastructure works had been undertaken in Madikeri City Municipal Council limits.
He said that a large number of tourists visit Madikeri city every year and therefore development works were being taken up on priority for the city’s growth and beautification.
The MLA stated that emphasis had already been placed on environmental cleanliness and added that pothole repairs, road construction, retaining wall construction and other civic works had been carried out in several areas.
Municipal Council President P. Kalavathi, Vice-President Mahesh Jaini, Madikeri Urban Development Authority President Rajesh Yallappa, Municipal Commissioner H.R. Ramesh, Standing Committee Presidents Satish, Arun Shetty and Sharada Nagaraju, councillors and others were present.
The details of the works inaugurated under the Chief Minister’s Infrastructure Development and State Disaster Management schemes are as follows:
Road development at Abbipals (Rs. 18 lakh), Goulibeedi Road (Rs. 28 lakh), road development up to Gowda Samaj Chain Gate (Rs. 20 lakh), drain and road development in front of the Rural Police Station (Rs. 27 lakh), road development leading to St. Joseph’s School (Rs. 17 lakh), road development passing in front of Crystal Hall (Rs. 10 lakh), road development leading to Kodava Rudrabhoomi (Rs. 5 lakh), construction of a retaining wall in front of Sharif and Salim’s house in Ward No. 4, Block No. 24 (Rs. 15 lakh), construction of a retaining wall connecting Ayyappa and Madappa’s house near Raghavendra Temple at Netaji Junction in Ward No. 6, Block No. 23 (Rs. 10 lakh), retaining wall construction in front of Addur’s house in Mallikarjuna Nagar, Ward No. 9, Block No. 1 (Rs. 5 lakh), retaining wall construction near Latha Ravi’s house in Ward No. 13, Block No. 18 (Rs. 10 lakh), retaining wall construction in front of Rosni Kawerappa’s house in Ward No. 22, Block No. 16 (Rs. 15 lakh), retaining wall construction near Redfern in Ward No. 15, Block No. 13 (Rs. 15 lakh), and retaining wall construction behind the rice mill and in front of Kumar’s house in Ward No. 17, Block No. 9 (Rs. 5 lakh), as well as behind Hire’s house in Ward No. 23, Block No. 19 (Rs. 10 lakh).
A total of approximately Rs. 2.72 crore is being spent on these development works.
