Cow-a-saki

Upon the narrow spine of earth
that rises gently over the river’s hush,
morning spills its molten gold—
an orange hymn across the sky.

Two figures walk with patient steps,
guiding cattle shaped by centuries,
their silhouettes carved in dawn,
like verses from an older book of time.

From the other side, a rider comes—
wheels whispering of swifter days,
iron and intent in quiet motion,
bearing the pulse of changing ways.

They meet where water mirrors fire,
where past and promise share one ground.
No clash of eras, no restless divide—
only nods beneath the sun’s new crown.

Hoof and wheel in gentle pause,
dust and dew in shared embrace;
tradition stands with steady breath,
innovation slows its pace.

And there, in shadowed harmony,
progress finds its truest art—
not in leaving one behind,
but walking forward, heart to heart.

So rises day from river’s edge,
on embankment firm and bright—
old and new in quiet accord,
shaping tomorrow in the light.
